Every 6th graders from around lots of different schools in Portland, get to have a once in a lifetime opportunity to go to Outdoor School. This is a campout in nature where you learn about nature, and four main parts of it: water, animals , plants, and soil. This includes doing lot's of fun activities, staying in a cabin and meeting lot's of new friends. Madeline and I got to have this great experience, so keep reading to learn more.
Meals
Madeline and I both went to a camp called Howard, there, we did lot's of things and one of those things was eat. The food was very good, with a variety of different foods, from chili, to pizza, or pancakes to breakfast burritos. We also got delicious dessert, overall, the food was delightful.
Field Study
For 4 hours each day, ( 2 in the morning, and 2 in the afternoon), we all had field study. This is when you go into the forest and learn about, water, plants, animals and soil(one each day). Sometime you do stations and learn about different parts or types, and sometimes you go on hikes, of play games. It is LOT'S of fun.
Cabins, People, and More
You get put in to a cabin with about 8 other kids, and become friend over the course of a week, you share bunks, play games and have fun. Two high school student leaders will also be in your cabin and be there for you. Overall, everyone there was super nice, I leaned lot's of songs, and had fun!!
